Fairbanks Garden Club Brings the Holiday Spirit to Dedham

Holiday centerpieces, wreath decorating and Garden of Tree Raffle

Members of the Fairbanks Garden Club have been busy as elves working on a variety of projects that help to brighten the holiday season.

At their November meeting, club members put together holiday centerpieces with greens, dried flowers and berries found in some of the members’ yard. The club provided the oasis for the arrangements and members brought in their own containers. At the end of the meeting, everyone went home with a fabulously arranged piece for their homes.

Two weeks later, a handful of members convened at the Endicott Greenhouse to help decorate Christmas wreaths that would be placed on doors around town buildings in Dedham. The brightly decorated wreaths were hung at the Main Library, the Endicott Branch Library, The Endicott Estate, The Fairbanks house and the Dedham Historical Society.

During the Dedham Square Holiday Stroll, the FGC held its first “Garden of Trees” raffle that benefited their Dedham High School Student Scholarship Fund. Ten beautifully decorated themed trees and the goodies beneath were raffled off in the lobby of the Dedham Community Theater. Five of the trees were sponsored by local businesses and organizations. Thanks to Kerry Hawkins Design and Photography, Dedham Square Circle, Dedham Junior Women’s Club, Riverdale Friends and The Friends of the Dedham Public Library for their support. The club is also grateful to Paul McMurtry and the Dedham Community Theatre Staff for welcoming us into their lobby and allowing the club to hold the event there.
