Trump digs in on ‘biggest scandal of our time,’ puts Dems ‘surprised’ over spying allegations on notice

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 06: U.S. President Donald Trump gestures after speaking during the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual leadership meeting at The Venetian Las Vegas on April 6, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Trump has cited his moving of the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and his decision to pull the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear deal as reasons for Jewish voters to leave the Democratic party and support him and the GOP instead. Attorney General Bill Barr’s assertion Wednesday that “spying did occur” should have surprised nobody who’s been paying attention, according to Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo.

“I’m scratching my head wondering why people are so stunned that the AG told the truth,” she said in befuddlement Thursday morning on FBN’s “Mornings with Maria.”

“He yesterday told lawmakers, said that the counterintelligence operation surrounding the Trump campaign back in 2016 involved spying. If you’ve been following my coverage of the Russian interference, you’ve seen lawmakers say the same thing for the last two years.”

One man who’s definitely been paying attention to her coverage is President Donald Trump. Following the conclusion of her three-hour show Thursday, he tweeted a segment from the program with the following quote: “Biggest scandal of our time – the coup that failed!”

Look:

“I’ll say it again, I’ve said it before, biggest scandal of our time. It’s just incredible. The coup that failed,” Bartiromo had said right at the very end of the seven-minute segment above.

While it’s unclear whether the spying had been part of an attempted coup, what’s known without a shadow of a doubt is that the Obama administration had indeed spied on Trump’s campaign. Yet many in the establishment — particularly in the media — remain loathe to admit as much. Why?

Speaking Wednesday evening on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” renowned conservative commentator Mollie Hemingway theorized it’s because they were “complicit” in it.

“One, they perpetuated the Russia collusion hoax. They accepted these leaks. They were not critical about them at all. They claimed they had all these bombshells. On one side, they gave into the hoax. On the other hand, they never covered what was troubling about the actions by these federal agents, not just the FBI, but other agencies, to go against domestic political opponents,” she said.

But again the question becomes why has the media continued to keep their heads in the sand vis-à-vis all the corruption that appears to have occurred within the Department of Justice? According to Hemingway and Bartiromo, it’s because they’ve been rooting for the president’s demise at the hands of the “Deep State.” They have, in short, been rooting for the “coup” that the FBN host had referenced.

Granted, these are just accusations — albeit evidence-backed accusations.

What Barr indicated while testifying to the Senate Appropriations Committee on Wednesday was that, given such accusations, he’d like to examine the Department of Justice’s investigation into Trump to ensure that everything was done properly and on the up-and-up.

“I just want to make it clear, thinking back on all the different colloquies here, that I am not saying that improper surveillance occurred. I am saying I am concerned about it and looking into it, that’s all,” he reportedly said near the end of Wednesday’s tumultuous hearing.

This — coupled with his fact-based assertion that “spying did occur” — has triggered massive backlash from Democrats and their media allies, all of whom appear to be suggesting that Barr is a political hack who’s been influenced by the president to carry out his agenda.

The president has for his part made it clear that he believes Barr’s investigation into the investigators will unravel an actual conspiracy the likes of which hasn’t been seen since Watergate.

“It was an illegal investigation. … Everything about it was crooked,” he reportedly told reporters on Wednesday, adding that the investigation was essentially an attempted “coup.”

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

To be clear, this again is just an accusation. However, it’s an accusation that can easily be either confirmed or invalidated by Barr simply conducting an investigation of the investigators. But because the AG is willing to do exactly that, both congressional Democrats and their decidedly left-wing media allies are now painting him as “the most dangerous man in America,” stunningly enough.

Dovetailing back to the president tweeting Bartiromo’s show Thursday, it seemed to be meant as a message to both Democrats and their media allies that their attempts to bury the truth (in regard to the Russian collusion delusion conspiracy theory) failed the first time and will undoubtedly fail again (this time in regard to the DOJ’s alleged efforts to stage a coup on his presidency).

And judging by how many people are listening, it appears he’s right that the truth will indeed be disseminated, no matter what’s tried and done to stop it from spreading:

A CBS poll conducted in late March revealed that a 54 percent majority of Americans believe that the Russian collusion probe was “politically motivated.”

Sorry, Democrats and mainstream media “journalists,” but you don’t control the narrative anymore.
