Driver Critically Injured In Edgewater Crash: Police

A Harwood driver is in critical condition after her car collided with another in Edgewater, Anne Arundel County Police say.

EDGEWATER, MD — A Harwood driver is in critical condition after she failed to stop for a traffic signal and her car collided with another in Edgewater, Anne Arundel County Police say. The accident happened about 5:45 a.m. Thursday on Solomons Island Road (MD 2) at Mayo Road.

Investigators say a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Katelynn E. Dolin-Adamson, 19, of Harwood, was southbound on Solomons Island Road when she failed to stop for a red light and was struck by a 2006 Nissan Altima that was westbound on Mayo Road.

Dolin-Adamson was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with critical injuries. The driver of the Nissan — Carlos E. Barrientos Arevalo, 19, of Edgewater — was not injured.

Police say the preliminary cause of the crash is Dolin-Adamson's failure to stop for a steady red signal. There are no signs that drugs or alcohol were involved. Charges, if any, will be filed after review by the State’s Attorney.
