Sanskrit college principal, six others held for RSS man murder
Varanasi: Sonbhadra police on Thursday claimed to have worked out the murder of RSS functionary and school principal S P Yadav by arresting seven persons, including principal of a Sanskrit college, his woman guru and a priest.
Police said that the murder took place in dispute of college management. Shooters were given contract to kill Yadav for Rs 7 lakh.
Producing arrested persons before reporters, SP Sonbhadra Salman Taj Patil said, “Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a place near Robertsganj railway station where the shooters had gathered to divide their share of contract money they were paid for killing SP Yadav.
While Kundan and Kaju Sharma were arrested, their gang leader Narendra managed to escape.”
Apart from a country-made revolver, two motorcycles and five mobile phones, police also recovered Rs 2.22 lakhs from their possession. During interrogation, they divulged the name of the persons who had hired them to kill Yadav.
Following the lead, police arrested the principal of Robertsganj Sanskrit College Jatashankar Dev, his Guru Vidyavati Devi, Sandeep, Shyambabu and Laxman Sharma.
Patil said that during investigation it came to light that Adarsh Vidyalaya, Robertsganj and Sanskrit College were looked after by a single management committee. While Yadav was principal of Adarsh Vidyalaya, Jatashankar is principal of Sanskrit college. A scholarship scam of Rs 20 lakhs had taken place in Sanskrit college in which a case was lodged against Jatashankar and a chargesheet was also filed, police said.

As Yadav pursued this matter on behalf of the management, Jatashankar and his close associates including Vidyavati, who is popular as Mataji, prepared a plan to kill Yadav. They hired shooters from Bihar and paid for Rs 7 lakhs to them.
Patil said that before killing Yadav, the shooters had conducted recce of his movement for four days.
Yadav was sprayed with bullets on March 30 near his residence. Principal of Adarsh Vidyalaya, Yadav was also the parliamentary constituency coordinator of RSS, vice-president of teachers’ union and chief commissioner of Scouts and Guides. He had received Governor’s award in 2003.
