Swamp People’ Troy Landry tops Boat Show

A visit by “Swamp People” Troy Landry on Sunday from 2:30-5 p.m. will headline the 2014 State Fair of Louisiana Boat, Sport & RV Show at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds on Greenwood Road.

Hours for the entire show are noon until 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $5 with children under 12 admitted free. Parking is also free.

The second annual Boat Show Big Bass Tournament will be held on Saturday with fishing allowed on multiple lakes.

The weigh-in will be held in front of Hirsch Coliseum at 3 p.m. Saturday. A rules meeting will be held for the two-man, two fish event on Friday night. Contact Mike Echols at (318) 465-6453 for more details.

New to the show this year is a gun and knife show inside the Hirsch all three days. There is no additional charge to visit it. Also in the coliseum will be the Don Edwards’ Wildlife Museum.

Additional free attractions each day include the Marvelous Mutts, a kid’s trout fishing pond, Boots & Britches and the Dream Camper Show, the Alaskan Malamutes Dog Show and the Lonestar Pony Show.

There will also be a large children’s area with inflatables, a zip line and pony rides, presented by AEP/SWEPCO.
