Man suspected for shooting in Logan County arrested

UPDATE 9/16/18 @ 7:00 p.m.

A man wanted for a shooting in Logan County was arrested in Columbus, Ohio Sunday.

The Logan County Sheriff's office said that Demetruis Levon Thomas was apprehended by the Columbus Police Department.

UPDATE 9/15/18 @ 4:00 p.m.

The Logan County Sheriff's Department has identified the suspect still on the run after a shooting in Logan County.

Two separate shootings in Logan county left one man dead and another in critical condition Friday night.

Authorities say they are still on the look out for 30-year-old Demetrius Levon Thomas after 22-year-old Dennis Jacob Idyle II was shot in the Cow Creek area of Logan County and taken to the hospital in critical condition last night.

Authorities say Thomas was pointing a gun at both Idyle and a juvenile, when Idyle attempted to disarm him and was shot once in the chest.

Thomas left on foot but later got into a in a blue Ford F-150 with an Ohio license plate showing HEF6282.

The trucks passenger mirror is damaged as well.

Thomas is to be considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information on Thomas's whereabouts you are asked to call 911 or the Logan Sheriff's office.

Deputies in Logan County said one man has been charged with murder while another is on the run after two separate shootings.

The first shooting happened in Shawnee Circle in the Rossmore Community around 6 p.m. on Friday.

West Virginia State Police said Harry Simpkins, 42, died of a gunshot wound after being shot by 46-year-old Layton Cline. Early Saturday morning, troopers said they arrested Layton Cline for murder.

Within hours deputies say another shooting happened in the Omar area of the county.

They say a tall skinny black male with tattoos shot 22-year-old Dennis Jacob Idyle in the chest and left the scene in a blue Ford F-150 Extended Cab.

Iydle was flown to a hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Troopers say the shootings are unrelated.

Deputies in Logan County say one man has been charged with murder while another is on the run after two separate shootings.

The first shooting happened in Shawnee Circle in the Rossmore Community late Friday night.

Deputies say the victim died of a gunshot wound. Their name has not been released.

Early Saturday morning, deputies said they arrested Layton Cline for murder.

Within hours deputies say another shooting happened in the Omar area of the county.

Two shootings happened in Logan County, Friday night according to West Virginia State Police.

Troopers confirm at least one person has died as a result.

According to WVSP the shootings took place in two different locations, one scene is in the Cow Creek area and the other along Route 44.

Troopers and Logan County Sheriff''s Deputies are searching for suspects.

Kanawha County Dispatchers confirmed a BOLO or "be on the lookout" alert has been sent out for the suspects.

Troopers and deputies are looking for a Blue Ford F-150 or a black BMW, they say two men are in the vehicles.

You are asked to take caution in the Route 44 and Cow Creek areas of Logan County.
