Fairfax County Public Schools students won first-place awards in 20 categories at the Virginia Technology Student Association “Technosphere 2018” competition, held recently in Hampton.

In addition, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology won the Arvid W. Van Dyke Outstanding School Award, and the Fairfax school system received the Lynn P. Barrier Outstanding School Division Award.

From the Sun Gazette coverage area, Mithra Dhinakaran of Thomas Jefferson won the Extemporaneous Presentation and Prepared Presentation competitions. Teams from Thomas Jefferson won Coding, Debating Technological Issues, Principles of Technology and Software Development competitions, while a team from Oakton High School won the Geospatial Technology competition.

The Technosphere competition is open to high-school and middle-school students throughout the commonwealth.
