The annual Ski and Sports Swap will be 5-9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, and 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Chilson Recreation Center, 700 E. Fourth St.

The event lets individuals and businesses buy and sell new or gently used ski and sports equipment, golf clubs, winter clothing, camping and outdoor equipment, exercise equipment and more.

Square Foot Art

Artworks Loveland, 310 N. Railroad Ave., will hold a Square Foot Fundraiser at 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, selling 12-by-12-inch artworks donated by local artists for $100.

Alpaca Fall Festival

Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies will hold their 22nd annual Fall Festival at 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, and 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at The Ranch Events Complex, 5280 Arena Circle.

The family event will feature more than 100 alpacas competing in a Full Fleece and Halter Show as well as a Youth Performance Show. Vendors will offer items made from alpaca fleece including apparel, hats, scarves, gloves, shawls, teddy bears, jewelry and more.

To learn about the alpaca industry, join one of the Alpaca 101 seminars offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday and at 11 a.m. on Sunday and Alpaca Judging 101 offered at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The event also will feature a free alpaca selfie booth. Alpacas will be available for selfies throughout the event. Santa will visit the alpaca selfie booth from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Colorado Gamers

The 2018 Colorado Gamers Convention will take place at 10 a.m.-midnight Saturday, Nov. 3, at New Thought NoCo Center for Spiritual Learning, 5628 McWhinney Blvd.

Participants can play a variety of tabletop and video games to benefit the Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Hired Hand Auction

The Thompson FFA Chapter will hold its Hired Hand Auction at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Thompson Valley High School, 1669 Eagle Drive.

The proceeds support the students’ participation in career development contests related to food and agribusiness careers, leadership development workshops, state convention, national convention in Indianapolis, and many other activities. There are currently 145 students in agricultural education classes at TVHS and BHS.

The evening starts with a catered meal at 5:30 and the auction at 6:30. Groups of two to four high school students are auctioned to provide a four- or eight-hour work day to be completed by May 31, 2019. They can provide extra hands for yard work, barn work, home care, gardening, etc.

Meal tickets are $15 from a member in advance or $20 at the door. Guests are welcome to attend only the meal or only the auction also.

Tribute to Veterans

The fourth annual Tribute to Veterans and their families will take place at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Embassy Suites, 4705 Clydesdale Parkway.

The event will feature a resource fair, music, family activities, military displays including a a military tank and other vehicles, dioramas of various military engagements, a life-size flight simulator and more.

A program honoring veterans will start at noon.

This year it also will include a food drive for Larimer and Weld county food banks. Each of the five branches of U.S. military will vie to bring in the most food.

The Chappelow Arts Magnet School choir will provide patriotic songs.

‘Remembering World War I’

Join the Loveland Public Library as it celebrates the centennial of the World War I Armistice with a series of events.

The first event is a talk by Dr. Robert Gudmestad, “Remembering World War I — Experiences of the Doughboys,” at 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Loveland Public Library, 300 N. Adams Ave.

He will speak about the experiences of the doughboy’s during World War I, their training, their experience in France, and their importance to the overall war efforts. Gudmestad is professor of military history at Colorado State University. His focus is on American military history.

The series will continue with “Colorado in World War I” at 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Patricia Limerick will hold an informal conversation on how Colorado contributed to World War I.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, Jim Found will present “World War I and Classical Music,” a program centered around classical music associated with World War I.

At 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, the series concludes with “World War I and the Western Front” a look at key sites in the war.

Celebration Fair

The Body Mind Spirit Celebration Fair will take place at 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the First National Bank Exhibition Hall at The Ranch, 5280 Arena Circle.

Loveland Village of the Good Samaritan Society will hold a Holiday Craft Bazaar at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4.

More than 18 outside vendors will be there with handmade items, jewelry, baked goods and more.

Waterway Cleanup

A Lake Loveland Waterway Cleanup will take place at 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the lake, 2626 N. Taft Ave.

Loveland Public Works staff invites volunteers to help improve the quality of the lake by removing trash and debris from the exposed lake bed and along the shoreline.

There will be two check-in locations, at the swim beach at 2626 N. Taft Ave., and at the south dock, located off U.S. 34.

Vienna Boys Choir

Holiday Lighting

Thousands of strands of holiday lights will illuminate historic Downtown Fort Collins at the annual Downtown Holiday Lighting Ceremony at 5:30-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, at the Oak Street Plaza, Oak Street and College Avenue.

The Andrew Vogt Jazz Quartet will play jazz, and limited quantities of hot chocolate, sweets and 3D glasses will be available.

Organizers will “flip the switch” at 6:30 p.m.

The lights will be illuminated through Feb. 14.

‘Face of Winter’

Coats for Kids Benefit

The fifth annual All You Can Eat Coats for Kids Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser will take place at 4:30-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Knights of Columbus Hall, 121 N. Meldrum St.

Costume Contest

Greeley will celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Saturday, Nov. 3, with a costume contest.

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday that celebrates the lives of deceased loved ones. Its most famous symbol, La Catrina, is dressed elegantly with a fancy hat and is a reminder that no matter how rich or poor, no one escapes death.

The costume contest for those dressed up as La Catrina or El Catrín is limited to the first 30 contestants who register. Registration will take place at 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. at Aims College Cornerstone Conference Center, 5401 W. 20th St. Road.

Anyone can enter the contest; there are no age restrictions. Contestants will be judged on originality of costume, face make-up resembling La Catrina/El Catrín and headdress or hat.

First and second place winners will receive prizes.

Go West Film Fest

The Go West Film Festival will offer a mix of classic and contemporary films about the West.

The fifth anniversary festival includes Hank Troy’s live keyboard accompaniment of a Buster Keaton silent and a multimedia show of John Fielder’s Colorado photography.

The kick-off celebration and movie will be at the festival’s main venue in downtown Greeley, the Kress Cinema and Lounge, 817 Eighth Ave., at 7 p.m. Sunday Nov. 4.

‘Beautiful Boy’ Author Talk

The High Plains Library District’s Signature Author Series will feature David Sheff, author of “Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction” (now a major motion picture) at noon Sunday, Nov. 4, at the University of Northern Colorado Ballroom, 2101 10th Ave.

The half-day community symposium will focus on addiction and recovery, and aims to create awareness and break down stereotypes and myths. ‘Aquarium Adventure’

Three Dog Night

Music icons Three Dog Night will bring their songbook of hits to the Stanley Concert Hall, 333 E. Wonderview Ave., at 7 p.m. Nov. 2-3.
