Keith Richards takes financial hit selling New York apartment

Keith Richards took a hit on this rock star apartment.

The wrinkly rock royal and his wife, Patti Hansen, just sold their posh downtown digs for $9 million, according to city property records.

That’s far less than the apartment’s $12.32 million original asking price — and a striking $1.5 million less than the couple paid for the pad in 2014.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom duplex is at One Fifth Avenue, a building so famous that “Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell even wrote a book about it, titled “One Fifth Avenue” and published in 2008.

Past residents of the famed Art Deco building include “Carrie,” “Scarface” and “Mission: Impossible” director Brian De Palma, who recently said he’s making a horror movie around a character based on disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, along with Paul Mazursky, Ira Sachs and Tim Burton.

The apartment features a large open dining/entertainment space, a leather and bronze open staircase and three private terraces — including two that overlook Fifth Avenue and Washington Square Park.

The home previously belonged to art curator/collector Sam Wagstaff, photographer Robert Mapplethorpe’s former lover. He slept on a mattress thrown on the floor long after he moved in, we reported previously.

Unit details include an air-purifying system and a Sonia sound system, natch. The buyer is Elizabeth Stern.
