Becky G And Natti Natasha Enter The Hot 100, Together

This article is more than 5 years old.

Fresh off their recent performance at MTV's Millennial Awards in Mexico, Becky G and Natti Natasha have entered the Billboard Hot 100 once again.

Their joint track "Sin Pijama" debuts on the all-genre singles chart this week at No. 99 after spending several weeks climbing Billboard's Latin music charts.

The poppy reggaeton song reaches No. 8 on Hot Latin Songs, a 7 week peak. "Sin Pijama" also takes No. 7 on Latin Digital Song Sales, No. 8 on Latin Streaming Songs and No. 14 on Latin Airplay.

Both Becky G and Natti Natasha have a history on the Billboard charts that reaches as far back as 2012. Born Natalia Gutiérrez Batista, Dominican singer Natasha topped Hot Latin Songs more than 6 years ago as a guest on Don Omar's "Dutty Love." At the time, she was signed with the Puerto Rican reggaeton artist's Orfanato Music Group. The duo's 2015 single "Perdido En Tus Ojos" peaked at No. 13. The bulk of her Hot Latin Songs appearances have come within the last year and a half, beginning with Daddy Yankee's "Otra Cosa" (No. 21 peak) and continuing with hits as a lead artist on "Criminal" with Ozuna (No. 5) and "Amantes De Una Noche" with Bad Bunny (No. 25).

Notably, "Criminal" made it to No. 95 on the Hot 100, Natasha's first song ever to do so. By comparison, California native Becky G, aka Rebbeca Marie Gomez, has considerably more experience on the all-genre singles chart. Formerly associated with Dr. Luke and his Kemosabe imprint, she first appeared on the Hot 100 as a guest on English pop singer Cher Lloyd's "Oath," which made it to No. 73 early in 2013. Gomez scored English language chart hits of her own shortly thereafter, with "Shower" peaking at No. 15 in 2014 and "Can't Stop Dancin'" at No. 88 the following year.

Yet it was 2017's Spanish-language "Mayores" with Bad Bunny that brought her back to the Hot 100. Though it never went higher than No. 74, the song spent an impressive 18 total weeks on the chart, a strong crossover performance. "Mayores" was a Hot Latin Songs fixture, spending 34 weeks there and peaking at No. 3. As of January, the single had earned 12x platino certification in the RIAA's Latin category, indicative of 780,000 units in sales and equivalents. Upon inevitable recertification, it should top a million units by year's end.

Given their respective histories, the pairing of Becky G and Natti Natasha at this pivotal point in their respective careers bodes well for the crossover potential of "Sin Pijama." The song is hardly the only Spanish-language track making an impact on the Hot 100 this week. With features by Bad Bunny, Nicky Jam and Ozuna, among others, the jam-packed "Te Boté" remix continues exceeding expectations, taking No. 43 in its seventh consecutive charting week there. After 14 weeks, Nicky Jam and J Balvin drop 9 slots to No. 57, while El Chombo's viral novelty "Dame Tu Cosita" dips to No. 75. The power of bachata king Romeo Santos keeps Ozuna's "El Farsante" in the running at No. 97 after 19 weeks.

Yet the biggest Hot 100 win for Latin artists this week comes courtesy of Cardi B's boogaloo-sampling Spanglish trap hit "I Like It." With guest appearances by Bad Bunny and J Balvin, the single reaches a new peak at No. 3, the highest showing for the former gentleman. Balvin last earned a No. 3 peak with Willy William and Beyoncé for their "Mi Gente," while Cardi B counts the track as her third one to make it into the top 3.
