Amish buggy involved in crash in Sanilac County

FLYNN TWP, MI - An Amish man avoided serious injury despite being ejected from his horse-drawn buggy when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck.

The collision happened about 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, on Peck Road in Sanilac County's Flynn Township.

Deputies report a 29-year-old Amish man from Marlette was traveling east on Peck Road in when the buggy was rear-ended by a 2005 Dodge Ram. The truck was driven by a 35-year-old male from Brown City.

The collision caused the man in the buggy to be ejected and the horse to come unattached from the buggy.

Marlette EMS responded to the scene and the occupant of the buggy refused treatment and the horse is not believed to be injured. The driver of the pickup was not injured in the collision.

Deputies cited the driver of the truck as a result of the accident.

Brown City firefighters assisted deputies at the scene.
