One man is dead after a wreck on northbound I-85 Saturday morning.

Joshua Daniel Baxter, 23, of Piedmont died after his 1994 Ford SUV flipped on its side and he was partially ejected from the car. There was one passenger in Baxter's car, said Don McCown, Anderson County deputy coroner.

The wreck happened about 6:30 a.m. near mile marker 37. Baxter's Ford struck the back of a 2016 Chevrolet SUV, according to Lance Cpl. Gary Miller of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

McCown said Baxter was on his way home from a friend's house. He said drugs, speed and alcohol were likely factors in the wreck.

The 19-year-old passenger in Baxter's car and the driver of the other vehicle were not injured. It is not known if the drivers or the passenger were wearing seat belts.
