NO ROYAL COMMITMENT

Record-breaking mare Winx still not certain to appear at Royal Ascot

Ascot officials have been trying to convince connections of the extraordinary mare Winx to run at Royal Ascot this summer, but her trainer Chris Waller refused to commit to the trip after a record 17th top-level success.

WINX took her unbelievable winning streak to 24 with a fairly dominant win in the George Ryder Stakes - but her connections are yet to commit to a run at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Chris Waller confirmed that no decision has been made with regards to the prospects of his extraordinary mare - who claimed a world record 17th win at the top-level - travelling across the world for a run at Royal Ascot in June.

Ascot officials are keen to see Winx head to Britain for the Queen Anne Stakes at the Royal meeting.

But Waller told Sky Thoroughbred Central: "To be fair to the owners, we haven't even discussed it.

"We know when it (Royal Ascot) is, and where the races are in Europe.

"This was very important, to come back and be fairly dominant.

"And in three weeks' time there's the Queen Elizabeth, the signature Sydney race which we were never really going to miss unless we were going to campaign (with several runs) in Europe.

"So we have to talk about coming back, if she went to Europe, and race in a fourth Cox Plate - she can only really go there for one run, possibly two.
