Safe Berks Silent Witness March & Dedication is Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Safe Berks, 255 Chestnut St.

The march runs to Schmidt Training & Technology Center at Reading Area Community College, where there will be a ceremony at noon.

Safe Berks will honor Berks County victims of domestic violence. The nonprofit says 59 Berks residents have been killed by domestic violence since 1999.

Marchers will carry red, life-size silhouettes that symbolize the victims. Each silhouette wears a shield that describes the victim’s death.

Barrio Alegria, a Reading community organization committed to civic engagement through the arts, will present “But We’re Still Here” at the Wyomissing Public Library, 9 Reading Blvd., on Monday at 6 p.m.

“But We’re Still Here” weaves the story of “The Three Little Pigs” and the Big Bad Wolf with contemporary issues of wage theft and sexual assault.

The performance is free but registration is requested at www.wyopublib.org, or 610-374-2385.

A Wyomissing High School senior is the guest speaker Wednesday at the World Affairs Council of Greater Reading’s breakfast.

Emma Hopler will speak on “Globalization through Model UN” at 7:30 a.m. at the Inn at Reading, 1040 N. Park Road, Wyomissing.

In her sophomore year Hopler was accepted to the All-American Model United Nations team and has since traveled to Hungary, Poland and China with the help and sponsorship of the World Affairs Council. On these trips she represents various countries while debating solutions to issues facing the global community.

“Art and Politics: The Case of Corrado Cagli” is the topic Wednesday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in room 121, Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building at Penn State Berks.

John Champagne, professor of English at Penn State Erie, will discuss the relationship between the art of Italian painter, sculptor and muralist Corrado Cagli and the fascist government that supported him before and during World War II.

Champagne uses Cagli’s career as a starting point for engaging his audience in a discussion of art and the contemporary resurgence of fascism at home and abroad. “Do artists have a responsibility to politics?” he asks. “What is our obligation to art of the past, and what does history suggest to us about the role art plays in world politics today?”

Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care, 120 W. Fifth St., Boyertown, presents free seminars on Medicare on Thursday at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Elizabeth Snyder, founder and broker principal of Main Street Financial Partners, will show how to navigate the coverage choices offered by Medicare and provide guidance on cost-effective plans.

The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley will present “The History of Lancaster County Architecture” by Gregory Scott, a fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

He will speak on the significant architecture and architects of the county from the 18th century to the present.

The Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club’s banquet fundraiser is Nov. 4 at noon at the Moselem Springs Golf Club.

The speaker is Leanna Joyner and the theme is “Celebrating Volunteers.”

Blue Mountain is among 31 Appalachian Trail maintenance clubs. It maintains 64 miles and also the 34-acre Rentschler Arboretum in Bernville.
