Alvina M. McDonough, 91, of Superior, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

She was born in Hibbing, MN, on January 11, 1927, the daughter of Norton Spike' and Katherine Brownlee.

Alvina and John C. McDonough were united in marriage on July 19, 1947.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Alvina enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, cooking, and baking. Above all, her faith and family were most important to her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sons, Murray and Dennis McDonough; grandchildren, Shannon Chang and Elliott Birrell; great grandchild Finnick Chang; and brothers, Wayne, Glen, and Lloyd Brownlee.

Alvina is survived by her children, Sharon (Al) Laabs of San Angelo, TX, Patrick (Carol) McDonough of Brule, Maureen (Peter) Birrell of Seattle, WA, Brian (Jo Ann) McDonough of South Range, and Colleen (Derek) Stinson of Lacey, WA; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Loris (Don) Ewing of Renton, WA, and Shirley Arnold of Anaheim, CA; daughter-in-law, Cheryll McDonough of East Wenatchee, WA; and sisters-in-law, Elfleda Brownlee of Hibbing, MN, Nancy Brownlee of Marysville, WA, and Blanche McDonough of Superior.

Her visitation will be on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

If desired, memorials in Alvina's name may be made to St. Francis Church.
