Fourth of July events blasting across East Texas

EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - Independence Day will fall on a Thursday this year but that’s not going to hinder a night of festive fireworks for anyone.

Fireworks shows will be popping off at several locations in East Texas. The common advice for a successful night of viewing is to consider parking and arrive early.

Bullard

Saturday, June 29 - The 2019 Blast over Bullard will take place at the Bullard High School. Festivities such as a patriotic bike brigade, bounce houses and live music from Lauren Alexander and Kolby Cooper will take place from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. The fireworks display will begin afterwards at 9:30 p.m. More information can be found on the City of Bullard’s website: www.bullardtexas.net.

Gilmer

Wednesday, July 3 - A fireworks show, sponsored by Goudarzi and Young Law Firm will be held at Jeff Traylor, Gilmer High School Stadium, which will be open for public seating. The night will kick off with an air show hosted by Flight Of The Phoenix Aviation Museum beginning promptly at 8:30 p.m. The fireworks show will light up the sky at 9:15 p.m. sharp.

Kilgore

Thursday, July 4 - Fourth of July Extravaganza will feature food vendors, water slides, kids activities and live music by the Chad Cooke Band in Kilgore City Park from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Thursday, July 4 - Free Splash Day at the Kilgore City Pool. Kilgore City Park 1:00-8:30 pm with live music, face painting, food vendors, and a fireworks show.

Lake Palestine area

Thursday, July 4 - Fourth of July at Bella Vista Event Center on Lake Palestine: This event benefits the Humane Society’s Pets Fur People and Big Dog Rescue Project. Live music by Grant Cook and Friends and The Pictures Band. Bring your chairs, blankets and floats for a party on the beach. Several food trucks and activities for the kids including bounce houses, water slides, lawn games, swimming and a best decorated float contest. Fireworks display starting at 9 pm. An after party with the Pictures Band starts after the fireworks until midnight. Tickets are available at Facebook.com/bellavistalakepalestine.

Longview

Thursday, July 4 - July Fireworks and Freedom Celebration at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex hosted by City of Longview. Vendors, concessions, free outdoor concerts by Dagnabbit, Uncle Kracker, carnival rides, Patriotic Pup fashion show and more. Festivities began at 11:00 a.m., fireworks at dark. Festival admission, parking and the fireworks show are free to the public; however, prices vary for individual activities. No BYOB or outside coolers allowed.

Lufkin

Thursday, July 4 - Ellen Trout Zoo. The zoo will be open extended hours gates open at 9:00 a.m., the last entry is at 7:30 p.m. Activities beginning at 3:00 p.m. include a rock wall, dunking booth, vendors, food, and live music. Fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

Nacogdoches

Thursday, July 4 - Freedom Fest. Festival Park from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Free. Live music children’s activities, food vendors and fireworks.

Overton

Thursday, July 4 - Fireworks in the park hosted by the City of Overton. Festivities begin at 3:00 with fireworks at dark. There will be food, inflatables, vendors, and activities for children. Parking is available at the Community Center parking lot.

Rusk County

Thursday, July 4 - Rusk County Old Shiloh Cemetery Annual July 4th Picnic on Texas Highway 315, about 7 miles northeast of Mt. Enterprise. Since the first interment in 1853, families and friends have gathered to enjoy shared picnic lunches at one of the oldest cemeteries in the region. Picnic is at noon at the Old Shiloh Baptist Church.

Sulphur Springs

Saturday, June 29 - 28th annual Independence Day Concert and Fireworks Show: downtown at 8 p.m. Free to the public. Music will be performed by the North East Texas Symphony with a grand fireworks finale.

Talco

Thursday, July 4 - Annual Talco Independence Day Fireworks Show at Talco Community Park. Free hot dogs, water and other refreshments will be available beginning around 7:00 p.m. Ceremonies will start around 9:00 p.m. and the fireworks show begins at dark. Activities and all parking are free of charge on a first come, first served basis.

Tyler

Thursday, July 4 - Celebration at Lindsey Park: The City of Tyler’s annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration at Lindsey Park, located at 12557 Spur 364 West, on Thursday, July 4 beginning at 4 p.m. and the fireworks show will begin after dark (around 9:15 p.m.) The park gate, located off of Spur 364, will officially open at 2 p.m. and admission is free. The Kids’ Zone and concessions will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Live entertainment will include music from the Groove Slaves.
