Arizona puts Jake DesJardins on scholarship

One question remaining for the Arizona Wildcats this offseason is how they plan to fill their remaining scholarship spots.

They had 11 players on scholarship — thus, two scholarships available — after adding four-star point guard Brandon Williams, and it appears they will keep one of those scholarships in-house and give it to now-former walk-on Jake DesJardins.

DesJardins, who just finished his sophomore year, has appeared in 10 games in two seasons with the Wildcats, playing a total of 19 minutes.

The 6-foot-6 Henderson, Nevada native was a First Team All-State player at Coronado High School before enrolling at the UA.

With DesJardins now on scholarship, Arizona has room to add just one more scholarship player this offseason.

The recruiting trail is pretty barren at this point, though UA has been connected to unranked forward Parker Braun, who might visit soon.

Most graduate transfers have found a home at this point, too, so it’s very possible Arizona will head into the season with what it already has.

Arizona has enough depth at guard and on the wing, but it could benefit to add another body in the frontcourt. Right now, it has Chase Jeter, Ira Lee, and Ryan Luther there, though Emmanuel Akot can slide over to the 4 if necessary as well.

If Arizona doesn’t use its last scholarship, it can carry it over to the 2019 recruiting cycle where it figures to have more success than it did in 2018.
