Fatal Motorcycle Crash Victim Identified: Police

A motorcycle crash on US 29 Saturday morning left a Prince George’s County man deceased and his passenger injured, according to the Howard County Police Department.

Maurice Malcolm Washington, 27, of Temple Hills, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on US 29 south in the area of Rivers Edge Road, police reported.

Authorities said that Washington was driving a 2014 Suzuki GSX-R750 south on US 29 when the motorcycle left the road and hit the center median guardrail at approximately 5:35 a.m.

Washington was dead when police arrived, and his passenger Victoria Francis Griffin, 23, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was listed in serious but stable condition, police said.

There were no other vehicles involved, according to police.

Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was going above the speed limit, police said.

Parts of US 29 were shut down in the area for three hours as officials investigated, according to police.
