O'Leary's holds WHS fund-raiser

Winnacunnet High School's Destination ImaginNation team pictured here will get a boost toward its attempt to raise funds for its trip to the national finals in Tennessee later this year as a result of a fund-raiser sponsored by O'Leary's restaurant in Hampton.

HAMPTON — The Winnacunnet Destination ImagiNation team will be holding a fund-raiser at O' Leary's Bar and Grill for their trip to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn., in May. Have dinner at O'Leary's on April 23, from 5 to 9 p.m., and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the WHS DI team.

The Winnacunnet Destination ImagiNation team qualified to represent the state of New Hampshire in Knoxville at the state tournament held on March 28. Destination Imagination is an after-school activity for kids in kindergarten through college in which they work as a team to solve one of five central challenges and an instant challenge.

The Winnacunnet team selected the challenge called a New Angle in which they had to merge two art forms to create a new art form as well as build a structure of wood and glue that would hold weight. The WHS team's structure weighted 24.1 grams and held 335 pounds.
