LANCASTER — A sheriff’s deputy en route to a call with his lights flashing and siren blaring was broadsided on the passenger side of his patrol car today in a Lancaster intersection, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. on southbound Sierra Highway and Avenue K, Lt. P. Bartlett of the Lancaster sheriff’s station said.
An eastbound vehicle struck the patrol car on the passenger side and pushed it into two other vehicles, Bartlett said.
The deputy was taken by ambulance to a hospital with a head laceration and no one else involved complained of pain, he said.
The crash was under investigation to determine who was at fault, Bartlett said.
A news videographer at the scene said the vehicle that broadsided the patrol car was a full-sized pickup truck.
