FRESNO, California (KGPE) – More than 5,000 Fresno County high school students and their families attended the 2019 Fresno Area College Night Wednesday.

At the event, students and their families met representatives from more than 100 colleges and universities from across the nation.

Ben Anooshian came with his daughter Bella who is a sophomore but already thinking ahead.

“I think it’s great we have this opportunity to see all these colleges and let her know what’s out there,” said Anooshian.

According to the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, breakout sessions in English, Spanish and Hmong will run simultaneously on college-related topics, including admissions, planning for college, African-American colleges, scholarships, and financial aid.

“We want kids to start thinking about it in middle school, thinking about the possibilities of going on to college or higher education,” said Fresno County Superintendent of School Tim Yovino.
