Man, 19, Charged With Illegal Dirt Bike Riding In New London: PD

Police said the accused's charges includes the new city ordinance targeting illegal dirt bikes.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police said a 19-year-old New London man was arrested Friday for allegedly driving a dirt bike recklessly around city streets. The accused's charges includes the new city ordinance targeting illegal dirt bikes, which carries a $1,000 fine, police said.

According to a news release, police said Elishsha Vessells, 19, was wanted on criminal charges stemming from an illegal dirt bike riding incident that occurred on Aug. 15.

Police said the accused was observed recklessly driving a dirt bike along various city streets throughout New London and failed to obey police orders to stop.

Police said the accused was arrested on charges of reckless driving, interfering with police, operating under suspension, failure to insure motorcycle, operating unregistered motor vehicle and failure to obey officer's signal.

According to police, the accused was also found in possession of four grams of marijuana and subsequently charged with possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.
