The recently released Apple iPhone XS Max has crossed the $999 barrier built by the iPhone X. At the base price of $1,099 and a jaw-dropping $1,499 amount for the top variant, the big handset is the most expensive iPhone ever. Today new estimates were published by TechInsights, pointing to the actual components cost of newest iPhone.
The 256GB iPhone XS Max is among the most popular version of the handset and its manufacture is valued at $443, a $50 hike in comparison to the latest year’s iPhone X. Interestingly enough, the iPhone XS Max most expensive component is its 6.5-inch OLED Panel which costs $80.50. The Apple A12 Bionic chipset follows the screen closely at a cost of $72 per unit. Internal Storage and External housing are another surprises due to their costs of $64 and $58, respectively.

The newly updated cameras are responsible for $44 of the total manufacture cost. In order to reach the $1,299 price for the 256GB variant, of course, we need to add some additional stuff such as research and development costs for the smartphone. Furthermore, the latest version of iOS 12.1 and all the process to adapt it to the newer handsets is another thing that represents an increase in the final price of the product. Last, but not least, the company will keep investing a lot of money in the manufacture, distribution, and marketing.
Of course the price still incomparable with what is being practiced by other mobile companies. In the end, Apple has one of the highest margins of the smartphone scenario and often sells the “brand” rather than specifications.
