After a shocking season four Sons of Anarchy finale in December, fans are eagerly awaiting the show’s return, which will see Jax (Charlie Hunnam) as the new leader of SAMRCO and Gemma (Katey Sagal) dealing with the fact that her murderous husband Clay (Ron Perlman) is still alive and probably out to do more bad things.

At PaleyFest on Wednesday, creator Kurt Sutter and his wife, Sagal, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming season and also reflected on season four.
Sutter told THR that he’s turning in a draft of the first episode of season five this week. Sons of Anarchy, FX’s hit drama about a California motorcycle club, will begin shooting season five in May, according to creator Kurt Sutter.
It was recently announced that the show has been renewed for both season five and six, which Sutter said means he can think more ahead than he has before. “This is the first season I’ve really had to think about the end game,” said Sutter.
“The outcome of season five could potentially impact season seven, if we do seven,” he said. Sutter has said before that he has thought about ending the show after a seventh season.
And in a strange turn of events, Sutter confirmed that Chuck Zito will appear on the show, “playing a nomad who comes to Charming.” Zito sued FX for $5 million in June 2010 claiming he had developed a show called Nomads (later The Wild Angels) and had agents at ICM set up a pitch meeting in 2004 with FX chief John Landgraf, during which Zito says he discussed ideas for a show about a motorcycle club. Zito lost the lawsuit in December 2011, when a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled on summary judgment that Sons was independently created and Zito didn’t have a case.
Zito confirmed the news to THR. “We buried the hatchet,” Zito told THR. “He said some derogatory things about me on his website, but that’s in the past now. We get along real well and we’re going to become good friends.”

Sutter told THR that he hasn’t cast the new potential villain of the season who was introduced in the finale of season four, Damien Pope.
Katey Sagal, for her part, may not know what the exact fate of her character Gemma is for the upcoming season, but she said that Sutter will sometimes “run stuff” by her.
“It’s fun to play somebody who is on the verge of unraveling which that’s kind of where we left off with her is bruised and beaten and everybody gone,” Sagal said of her character, the matriarch of the motorcycle club.
“I think she’s been very well guarded most of her life and she’s surrounded herself with this world that’s very safe to her,” she addd.
