Foam Wonderland party at Rawhide, 10/17

“Our goal is to create an actual storm, from the lighting-like lights, thunderous bass and lots of rain. Water is boring, so we decided to go with foam.”

Foam Wonderland returns to Rawhide near Chandler on Saturday, Oct. 17.

An electronic-dance-music festival meets a giant bubble bath.

It might not make sense on paper, but it does when you experience it in person.

Foam Wonderland returns to Rawhide on the Gila River Reservation near Chandler, and partiers will get to see top DJs while getting doused in foam. The line-up includes Bingo Players, UZ and Kayzo.

Organizer Au Hau created the event in Denver when he and his friends were finishing their first year of college. They booked a 3,000-capacity venue and sold out. Realizing they had a winning event, they brought the show on tour.

The foam is made from a solution that is mixed into 250-gallon water totes. Enormous foam machines can hold two totes, and the foam can spray up to 100 feet.

“Attendees will never be standing in more than an inch of foam, because the crowd absorbs it all,” Hau said. “Our goal is to create an actual storm, from the lighting-like lights, thunderous bass and lots of rain. Water is boring, so we decided to go with foam.”

Hau said he hopes people come with an open mind and really get into the experience.

“Anyone can experience it, and that’s what we aim for,” he said. “You don’t have to be an EDM junkie or a habitual party-goer. The show is very interactive with foam being launched from the stage, world-class DJs amping up the crowd, and a mind-blowing light show. Imagine dancing in an intense rainstorm with all of your friends, having the time of your lives.”
