Open lab

Pekin Goodwill Learning Center, 3245 Court St., Pekin (inside Goodwill’s Pekin Store), offers open lab from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Pekin Learning Center guests have access to Windows 8 computers, software, WiFi and printers. For individual assistance, make an appointment by calling 573-7186.

Give blood

An American Red Cross blood drive will take place from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Five Points Washington, 360 N. Wilmor, Washington. Make an appointment by visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Yarn Adventures

Children ages 8 to 12 can learn about weaving, knitting and braiding from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, June 18, 25, and July 9, at the Speakeasy Art Center in downtown Pekin. The cost is $45 for all three classes and all materials. Instructor Jennie Hawkey will teach finger knitting, braiding and weaving. Garden club

The Morton Village Garden Club will tour the extensive Hosta gardens, streams and ponds of the Cantrells at 311 Arnold St., East Peoria. Arnold Street is off Route 8 up the hill from Glad Tidings Church near Avanti’s. The club will carpool from the library at 5:30 p.m. Guests are welcome. Historical society

Ed Block of Lincoln will be the guest speaker at the 6:30 p.m. meeting of the Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society, 114 N. Chicago St., Lincoln. Block was one of the original workers on the Elkhart Mine. His talk will cover the choosing of the design of work, why it was chosen, and what earth formations were found as they dug down. Taco Tuesday

Eagles Lodge 1869, 274 Derby St., Pekin, will host a Taco Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Lodge. Tacos are $1.25 each.

Sit and Stitch

Knitters, crocheters, needleworkers and crafters meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays each month at the Eureka Public Library, 202 S. Main St. For more information, call the library at 467-2922.

Pheasants Forever

The Illinois River Valley Chapter of Pheasants Forever will have its June meeting at the Farm Bureau auditorium, 1505 Valle Vista, Pekin, starting at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. Points of discussion will be current and up-coming habitat projects, summer youth events and general chapter business.

Altrusa

The Altrusa International Club of Pekin will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Pekin Estates in the Library Room. The club year and committee assignments will be announced. The Finance Committee is in charge of the meeting.

Comedy magician

The Marquette Heights Public Library will have a summer reading program event featuring comedy magician Richard Landry and his magic rabbit Snowball at 2 p.m. This Read to the Rhythm event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the library at 382-3778.
