The Women's March on Washington and the hundreds of sister marches around the world drew enormous crowds on Saturday, January 21. More than 2 million people alone are estimated to have attended the four marches in Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City, and hundreds of thousands others came out in support of women's rights in other cities.

Among the marchers were a ton of A-list celebrities. Stars like Rihanna, Zendaya, Rowan Blanchard, Bella Thorne, Ariana Grande, and Miley Cyrus added their voices to the cause, walking alongside regular citizens.

One celebrity who was noticeably absent from the marches was Taylor Swift. However, yesterday, Taylor took to Twitter to share her support of the Women's March. "So much love, pride, and respect for those who marched," she wrote. "I'm proud to be a woman today, and every day."

While Taylor's presence would have been important, none of us know why she didn't attend the Women's March. And regardless of how people might feel about Taylor's choice to speak out on Twitter instead of showing up in person, it's important to remember that celebrities deserve respect just as much as "regular" people do. Ultimately, Taylor's tweet was a positive gesture, and perhaps we should accept it as such and move on. After all, tearing down another woman is never the answer.
