Kendall Jenner has invited the wrath of a whole bunch of models after her comments in regards to working her way up in the industry.

You see, many models work their way up by walking tens of shows every fashion week. Near a hundred, for some. Darting from runway to runway is merely part of the job and it isn’t until they get to the very top, if ever, they can pick and choose which shows they walk.

Not Kendall Jenner.

While it’s a pretty known thing she got her start in modelling not only by having the figure but with her famous last name, Kendall has been able to, how do we say this, ascend to the top a little easier than others.

In the past she’s kept her privilege out of her mouth; however, in her latest cover story with Love magazine, she spoke about the fact she wasn’t one to work the same way in the traditional means.

‘Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do. More power to ’em,’ she said, as she referenced her anxiety.

‘But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back.’

Anyone battling anxiety should never be shamed for their decision to pull back for the sake of their mental health, and reps for Kendall told PEOPLE her comments had been taken out of context.

‘Mid-thought she realised the number of shows some models walk a season is closer to 80. The point was that it’s their path and “the more power to them,”’ the rep said. ‘She admires their hard work and dedication. It’s an accomplishment.’

Be that as it may, many of her model comrades took offence at Kenny’s thoughts and responded on social media.

And it was pretty savage.

‘”Whatever the fuck those girls do” is do their very best to make their way up AND try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families,’ model Daria Strokous shared on her Instagram Story. ‘Oh, and it’s 70 shows a season by the way and we are all fucking proud of every single one of the girls that did it.’

Daria then shared a montage of a whole heap of models in catwalk shots to the backing of Aretha Franklin’s RESPECT.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit star Vita Sidorkina also shared: ‘Maybe “those girls” need to pay their bills that’s why they are doing 30 shows? No words…’

Teddy Quinlivan wrote on Instagram about how models need to work harder in an industry without regulation.

‘As models we need to uplift each other. We all work extremely hard to pursue our dreams even the “girls who walk 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do”,’ she said. ‘If you are lucky as a model you might make enough to not be in debt to your agency; maybe even move out of the model apartment…if you’re lucky.

‘I’m privileged, I’m white, I’m a passable trans woman, my family doesn’t rely on my paycheck to survive. Unforutnately this isn’t the case for the vast majority of models who have to leave everything behind including their families in pursuit of a better life.

‘Models don’t just come from Calabasas…they come from Somalia, The Siberian tundra, a rural village in China, a trailer park in Tennessee.

‘Making disparaging comments about your peers doesn’t lead to growth or unity which our regulation-less industry desperately needs’.

While Kendall meant no offence, it’s clear her colleagues aren’t too happy.

However let’s put the pitch forks away – no harm, no foul, right?
