Original story: Here's some most Excellent news to kick off your week: the planned third movie in the Bill & Ted franchise is looking to bring back William Sadler as Death.

Last month, Bill & Ted writer Ed Solomon revealed plot details for the movie – called Bill & Ted Face the Music – to Digital Spy, explaining how it would pay tribute to the late George Carlin (who played Rufus).

In response to that article, actor Sadler – who played the Grim Reaper in 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey – revealed on Twitter that he is "keeping [his] bony white fingers crossed" for a third film.

Solomon then confirmed that Death plays a part in Bill & Ted Face the Music, revealing that he and co-writer Chris Matheson "laughed a lot" writing his role in the film.

In Bogus Journey, Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) had to beat Death at Battleship after the pair were murdered by their robot doubles from the future. Eventually, the Reaper became their ally, as did a shape-changing alien called Station.

Seriously, it's the best film.

Face the Music will see Winter and Reeves return to play middle-aged versions of Bill and Ted, who are now family men rather than young aspiring musicians.

Solomon previously confirmed that he's still in meetings trying to get the movie made and that it to a green-light.

One issue holding it up, he explained, is that Hollywood prefers the idea of a Bill & Ted reboot, as opposed to a straight sequel.

"We are having issues raising money for it, getting it financed, because what we get all the time – all the time – is people wanting to reboot it," he said.

"It's 'Let's do Bill & Ted with new teenagers', but what we wanna do is the story of Bill and Ted as middle-aged men, and tell what we think could be a really funny, and actually really moving, story about their lives and where they are now – their families, their kids."

Hollywood, we need this threequel to happen... especially now that the Grim Reaper's confirmed for a comeback.
