A Florida man rammed his pregnant girlfriend with his car, then bolted, leaving her at the scene, authorities said Tuesday.
Crystal Noordhuizen, 32, had just crossed the street and stepped onto a grassy shoulder when a White Dodge Charger vroomed into view, striking the woman before plowing into a post, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The car was driven by Justin Colby, 33, of Pasco County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Before the incident, Colby called Noordhuizen to ask if she was “ready for your abortion date,” according to an arrest report obtained by the Tampa Bay Times.
Colby was arrested late Monday after he turned himself in, according to deputies, WTVJ-TV reported.
After hitting Noordhuizen, who is seven months pregnant, Colby walked away from the scene, leaving his damaged car, which can be seen on the video billowing steam.
The couple had argued before the incident. He was charged Tuesday with two counts of attempted murder. She was treated for minor injuries.
