Looking for some entertainment this weekend? These two musical performances both incorporate similar instruments, but could not be any more different. From bluegrass tunes to murder ballads, Sandywoods Center for the Arts has got you covered.

A Bluegrass Supergroup

Come hear how traditional bluegrass is “supposed to be played,” according to Sandywoods.
The Pegheads have been described as a “Rhode Island bluegrass supergroup” for their instrumental skill and vocal harmonies.

The group’s musical repertoire includes bluegrass standards, mountain tunes, laments and traditional songs.
The Pegheads consist of members:
- Mike Kropp— banjo
- Martin Grosswendt— guitar, vocals
- Jeff Horton— bass, vocals
- Karl Dennis— fiddle vocals
- Ben Pearce— mandolin, vocals
Many of these musicians have been performing for several decades. Let The Pegheads show you a thing-or-two about bluegrass starting at 8 p.m.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Those who attend can bring their own beer and food.
Rock Out to ‘Classically Strange’ Tunes
Fill your Saturday night with murder ballads, love songs, music from the high seas, Afro/Celtic gospel sing-alongs and more strange tunes.
Tim Eriksen & the Trio de Pumpkintown will hit the stage to perform songs from an imaginary New England Village beginning at 8 p.m.
The group features:
- Tim Eriksen— voice, banjo, bajo, sexto, fiddle, guitar
- Zoë Darrow— fiddle, voice
- Peter Irvine— hand percussion, glockenspiel, voice
Eriksen is known for creating a hardcore Americana sound and has recorded with artists including Jack White, Ralph Stanley, Elvis Costello and more.
