The latest still from the film’s marketing campaign puts our ragtag crew front and center, ahead of their seemingly impossible mission, which involves venturing into occupied Germany in the dying days of World War II.

Coming by way of David Ayer and Russian cinematographer Roman Vasyanov — who worked alongside the screenwriter-cum-filmmaker for End of Watch — Fury has been billed by the creative pairing as the “ultimate tank film.” Judging from the footage released thus far, there’s no question that it hones the same visceral style of camerawork that was realized so well for the Jake Gyllenhaal-led cop drama — here’s hoping it can be as effective across Europe’s Theater of War.

Having penned the script for Denzel’s Washington career-best performance in Training Day along the aforementioned End of Watch, it’ll be fascinating to see how Ayer handles the subject matter given that it is, by now, well-tread ground for the film industry as a whole.

Fury is expected to steamroll into theaters on October 7th, 2014. Until then, be sure to check out the full synopsis for the full and let us know whether you’ll be checking out the film out in the comments section below.

April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
