Vin Diesel recently announced that the follow-up to Furious 7, the as-yet-untitled Furious 8, will hit theaters on April 14, 2017 — which means we have two years to speculate about the plot of the film. With that in mind, here’s what we would like to see from the next installment.
Which Reggaeton Artist Should Star in ‘Furious 8’? | ‘Furious 8’ Gets Release Date
1. Another Hit Single
Wiz Khalifa‘s “See You Again” Feat. Charlie Puth from Furious 7 took the charts by storm, ending the reign of Mark Ronson‘s “Uptown Funk.” The emotional resonance of the song will be hard to beat, but if you brought J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar together for a collab, another chart-topper is a huge possibility.
2. CL as a Street Racer
The Furious franchise is known for its musical cameos — from Ja Rule, to Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Romeo Santos and more. Why not add Justin Bieber‘s new BFF CL of 2NE1 to the mix?

3. Jaden Smith as a New Character
Although he probably couldn’t wear his Batman outfit, Jaden Smith would make a stellar addition — perhaps as a protege to Ludacris‘ Tej?
4. A Clever Title
Maybe Fast & Furious: F8. Or F8rious.
5. Elena and Hobbes
Elena (Elsa Pataky) arrived on the scene in Fast Five, quickly becoming Dom’s love interest until Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) returned. In Fast & Furious 6, Elena began working with Hobbes (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) and there was a clear chemistry between them. In Furious 7, he even jumped out of a building to save her. We need to see a kiss.
6. New York City
The Furious team has been all over the world. It’s time for them to visit the Big Apple. Besides, Diesel himself already said the film would be set in New York.
7. More Kurt Russell
Russell’s Mr. Nobody surprised and delighted as the shady government figure that helped Dom’s gang catch Ian Shaw. Bring him back for another round.
8. The Return of Han and Gisele
Han (Sung Kang) went to Tokyo after Gisele (Gal Gadot) died in the sixth movie. The end of 6 and the beginning of 7 show Han dying at the hands of Ian Shaw (which also happened in the middle of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift). But characters have come back from the dead before. And since Paul Walker‘s death left a giant Brian O’Connor-sized hole, Han and Gisele could help fill that void.
