Microsoft rolled out new Windows 10 cumulative updates today as part of the Patch Tuesday cycle and naturally, the Fall Creators Update is one of the versions being targeted.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4054517, which bumps version number to 16299.125, is specifically focused on security, so it includes patches for vulnerabilities in the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Microsoft Edge, and Windows Server.

Additionally, there are also several improvements, including updates for Internet Explorer that make the dedicated button to switch to Microsoft Edge more visible. This is the kind of improvement that’s more important for Microsoft than for users, as the company wants them to easily switch to the new default browser in Windows 10.

The same cumulative update also includes fixes for issues causing Windows Defender Device Guard and Application Control to block some apps from running, but also for personalized Bluetooth devices that do not support bonding.

No known issues

Microsoft says it also included fixes for a bug affected System Center Virtual Machine Manager in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

“Addresses issue where, when using System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), the user can't copy or clone virtual machines (VM). The error message is "0x80070057- Invalid parameter". This issue affects the VMM UI and PowerShell scripts used for VM cloning and copying,” the company explains.

Surprisingly, there are no known issues in this update, which is a little surprising given that the latest few releases came with such bugs which were officially acknowledged by the company since their release. This means that Microsoft managed to fix those problems and everything should work correctly now.

Obviously, people are still afraid that other bugs could be experienced, so we’ll be keeping an eye out on reports to see if such issues are indeed encountered.

You can check the full change log in the box below and keep in mind that the install requires a reboot to complete the process.
