CHERRY VALLEY, AR (KAIT) - A Cross County man was being held in jail awaiting a court appearance June 4 after he reportedly assaulted someone in Cherry Valley.

According to a post on the Cross County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Holbrook Mitchell of Cherry Valley was arrested after deputies went to the Exxon in Cherry Valley on May 31 after getting a report about a domestic battery involving a handgun.

Deputies spoke with the victim, who had visible injuries and also spoke about the incident that happened at the Mitchell home in Cherry Valley, the post noted.

Authorities tried to find Mitchell but could not locate him.

However, investigators spent June 1 working on getting statements and an arrest warrant.

Mitchell was later arrested without incident. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family member, aggravated assault, two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening and domestic battery-3rd degree.

He was being held in the Cross County jail on a $75,000 cash bond, pending the court appearance, officials said.
