Wayne Rooney court sketch sends internet into hysterics as jokers claim ‘he looks like a bouncer from a British gangster film’

TWITTER users mocked a Wayne Rooney court sketch - joking it was "part of his punishment" after he was banned from driving for two years for being over the limit.

The dodgy drawing of the shamed Everton star in the dock sent the internet into hysterics with some users comparing him to a "British gangster".

Rooney was today handed 100 hours' community service after pleading guilty to drink driving at Stockport Magistrates Court today.

He was also banned from driving for two years and given a community order following the drunken night out in Wilmslow, Cheshire, earlier this month.

The ex-England captain was three-times the drink drive limit when he was pulled over behind the wheel of party girl pal Laura Simpson's VW Beetle.

Rooney had arrived at court flanked by security guards and police - but it was the sketch from inside the dock that gained the most attention.

@JoshRobinson23 wrote: "The Wayne Rooney court sketch isn't Tom Brady-level, but I am excited to see him play a boxer-turned-bodyguard in a British gangster flick."

@steadyonfahy tweeted: "Big fan of the court room sketch portraying Rooney as a truck driver with a felonious past".

@AlexWatt187 said: "The court sketch artist appears to have confused Wayne Rooney with Popeye tbh".

Bookies Coral joked: "Wayne Rooney's court sketch. He's been banned from driving for 2 years and I reckon this is still the worst thing to happen to him today."

@EuanWemyss wrote: "Court sketch artist has added bout an inch to Rooney's forehead there. Just missing the mammoth hide costume and giant wooden club.

While @TedJeory said: "Is this court sketch of Wayne Rooney part of his punishment?"

Disgraced Rooney said he had "let my family down" after he admitted drink driving today.

His wife Coleen, who is pregnant with the couple's fourth child, has been seen without her £250,000 wedding ring after he was stopped with Laura on the boozy night out.

Laura admitted she had "kissed and hugged" the football star after they met in a bar.

The 29-year-old appeared on ITV’s This Morning to talk about how Wayne ended up with her in her VW Beetle.

The Sun On Sunday reported how Coleen branded party girl Laura a “fame-seeking slapper” after watching her TV interview this week.
