Man robbed, forced into trunk, Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office says

The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a North Carolina man, they said, after an elderly man was robbed and forced into the trunk of a car.

The man had just returned to his home in the Carrsville area when another man demanded his wallet and credit cards before forcing him into the trunk of a car, a news release from the sheriff’s office said. The man was driven to an unknown location, then released in the Churchland area of Chesapeake in the morning, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said that money was taken from the victim’s account at an ATM in Murfreesboro, N.C. There was a second attempt to use the card at a business in Chesapeake.

Deputies have issued warrants for 30-year-old Deon Marcel Gatling of the 100 block of Eleytown Road in Murfreesboro in connection with the robbery and abduction.
