EPHRAIM - Gibraltar High School English teacher and coach Lauren Bremer will be featured as part of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County's Dickinson Poetry Series on Dec. 13.

Bremer earned a bachelor's in secondary education in 2003 and a master's in English literature in 2009, and is presently working toward another degree in educational leadership. She has taught in Gibraltar since 2005.

Although keeping up with her two children and grading essays take up the majority of her time, writing poetry is where her heart lies. Bremer finds inspiration equally in the solitude of a Baileys Harbor winter and the crash of a Chicago night.

Her poetry touches on nature, politics, life in Door County, and the incredible tangle of human life around us. Each February, she coaches student poets to be featured at the UU Dickinson Poetry Series, and will now share her own work at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13.

The Dickinson Poetry Series features a local or regional poet, followed by an open mic, on the second Wednesday of every month. There is no charge.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 10341 State 42, Ephraim, can be reached for more information at 920-854-7559.
