Drive it Forward Program raises $6,100 for Cape Girardeau charities

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - During the month of June, $6,100 was raised for five charities in the Cape Girardeau, Missouri area.

This information is according to General Manager Chris Brown with Cape Girardeau Honda.

Brown says the Cape Girardeau Honda's Drive It Forward Program is in its 4th year. The drive exceeded last year's donation totals according to Brown.

"The Drive It Forward Program has really taken on a life of its own and we raise more money each year," Brown said. "Never in our wildest dreams did we think Drive It Forward would become so popular. Cape Girardeau Honda has made a commitment to be involved and give back to our community. Drive It Forward is not only a great way to raise money that stays in our community, but it exposes these great organizations to people who may not have been aware of them before. We've also been able to develop relationships with these organizations which enables us to promote their cause all year long."

The program allows customers who purchase a new or used vehicle to choose from a list of five charities to send a $50 donation to. Those charities include Cape Area Habitat for Humanity, Safe House for Women Outreach, Adult & Teen Challenge Mid America, The United Way of Southeast Missouri and Hope for One More.

To date, the program has raised $22,150. There will be a reception at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 20 at Cape Girardeau Honda and everyone is invited to attend. it is located at 385 Siemers Dr. For more information contact Brown at 573-334-6919.
