AMC is currently developing a late-night chatshow to be hosted by director Kevin Smith.

Hollywood Babble-On is based on Smith and long-time collaborator Ralph Garman's podcast, and is now being eyed as a weekly series for the cable network.

Smith told The Hollywood Reporter that a pilot episode will be filmed this spring.

"I always describe it as Entertainment Tonight but filthy. We sit there and make fun of our industry betters," the filmmaker explained.

He continued: "We bring an inside perspective. We're not the biggest winners on the planet, so we can grouse as well. It has a fun dynamic of salty and sweet.

"It's a night club show, so we're working with the good folks to try and crack the code of how to turn that podcast we record live every week and turn it into a TV show."

AMC has also ordered a fourth season of Smith's reality series Comic Book Men, which is the channel's highest rated unscripted show.

Smith recently confirmed that he is postponing the highly-anticipated Clerks 3 to work on the Christmas-themed horror film Comes the Krampus.
