Truck Rollover On 159th Street Caused By Car Veering Into Wrong Lane

159th Street was reopened after a crash between a car and truck resulted in three injuries Wednesday morning.

OAK FOREST, IL -- Three people were injured and hospitalized Wednesday morning when a Ford passenger car collided with a flatbed truck near 159th and Pulaski Road and the I-57 entrance ramp in Oak Forest. The Cook County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the crash happened at 9:07 a.m.

The road on 159th Street between Pulaski and Cicero Avenue was closed until 2 p.m., according to Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

A preliminary investigation indicates a gray Ford Focus was traveling eastbound on 159th Street and crossed into westbound 159th and struck a flatbed truck. After impact, the truck veered off the roadway and rolled over.

The driver of the Ford was a 30-year-old man from Chicago Ridge who was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening, Ansari said.

The truck’s driver, a 54-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona and a male passenger were also transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A Tri-State Fire alert indicated three ambulances responded to the scene, with an Engine from Midlothian there providing mutual aid.
