The Bowling Green State University baseball team was defeated by the University of Michigan of Saturday (March 17) afternoon by a score of 10-7. The game was played at Michigan's Ray Fisher Stadium in front of 492 fans.

"Our guys fought their hearts out," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "Sometimes, things just don't go your way in the game of baseball. We will give ourselves a really good chance to win tomorrow if we play with that sort of effort."

Michigan jumped on the Falcons with a four-run third to take a 4-0 lead. After the Wolverines tacked on another run in the fourth, Bowling Green countered with a two-run fifth. The Wolverines then took an 8-2 lead following a three-run sixth, but Bowling Green, again, would not go quietly.

Bowling Green scored three in the eighth and two in the ninth. The Falcons brought the tying run to the on deck circle in the ninth, before a ground out ended the game. A two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth gave Michigan the cushion it needed to escape with the win.

Bowling Green drops to 3-15 on the season with the loss, while Michigan improves to 6-11. The Falcons and Wolverines will conclude the three-game series tomorrow (March 18) afternoon with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
