The worker who died last week in an industrial accident at Disney’s Epcot apparently fell off a cherry picker, a report released Tuesday by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

One witness said George Grimes, 58, was in the elevated basket of the cherry picker trying to load it in a pickup truck around 5 p.m. March 12, the report said.

Other witnesses saw Grimes “flying through the air” and hitting the ground a short time later. He was found in a pool of blood with head trauma, the report said.

Grimes was not wearing safety equipment, the report noted.

The Reedy Creek Fire Department pronounced Grimes dead on scene.

Grimes worked for Sunbelt Rentals, an equipment rental company.

The incident remains under investigation.
