Not wasting any time as Walter Isaacs’ bestselling Steve Jobs biography continues to fly off bookshelves, Magnolia Pictures has acquired US rights to documentary “Steve Jobs” The Lost Interview.” Magnolia took note that the film played well at limited special screenings at several Landmark theaters earlier this year. Magnolia will open the film in key theaters on May 11th, followed by a DVD and VOD release later this summer.

Robert Cringely filmed the candid, in-depth interview with the late Apple leader in 1995, two years before he regained control of Apple, and thought the footage was lost. In the film, Jobs talks about his early life, career battles and future vision. Portions of the interview were used for a television series at the time, but the majority of the discussion was set aside for 17 years. Recently unearthed, the interview is going to be shown unedited, and at full length.

Cringely’s movie is “a fascinating document that will be enlightening and entertaining for anyone that’s interested in Jobs’ legacy,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “It’s a valuable piece of history that has thankfully been rescued from obscurity.”
