GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Planet Fitness plans to open a location at 234 Market Ave. SW in downtown Grand Rapids in late spring.
PF Michigan Group, a Planet Fitness franchisee with 47 locations in Michigan and northwest Ohio, has leased 24,797 square feet of space in the building, which includes ground-floor retail space and 234 apartments.
“We are very excited to be in the ‘middle of everything’ in a downtown setting,” said Mary Scott, director of marketing at Planet Fitness. “As with any location, we look for opportunities to bring convenient access to Planet Fitness’ affordable, judgement free atmosphere.”
Planet Fitness offers an array of cardio and strength training equipment, massage chairs and more. Membership rates start at $10 a month.
The space was leased to PF Michigan Group by NAI Wisinski of West Michigan and NorthStar Commercial.
Planet Fitness was founded in 1982 in Dover, New Hampshire. The company says it’s “one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the United States by number of members and locations.” The company says it has more than 14 million members, as well as 1,899 stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Mexico.
