The top high school wrestlers from five states will compete in The Gut Check invitational tournament Jan. 3-5 at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent.
Teams from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Alaska will be featured in the tournament. The Washington State Wrestling Foundation began the tournament in 2014 in Kitsap County and decided to move to the ShoWare Center for a larger venue.
Competition begins at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, with college dual meets among Big Bend Community College (Moses Lake), Fraser Valley (British Columbia), Grays Harbor College (Aberdeen), Washington State University and Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma). At 6:45 p.m., the British Columbia All-Stars and USA Gut Check All-Stars will compete in a freestyle dual.
The high school tournament begins at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5. Top teams and individuals were invited to compete. The 2018 tournament featured 235 state placers, 85 state finalists and 44 state champions.

IDAHO: Priest River.
NEVADA: Shadow Ridge.
OREGON: Cascade Christian, Century, Hermiston, McKay, Silverton and Willamina.
WASHINGTON: Auburn Mountainview, Auburn Riverside, Ballard, Battle Ground, Bethel, Blaine, Bonney Lake, Burlington, Camas, Cedarcrest, Chewelah, Chiawana, Curtis, Darrington, Davis, Deer Park, Ferndale, Fife, Forks, Granger, Hazen, Heritage, Kamiakin, Kennedy, Lakes, Lakeside NMF, Lincoln, Marysville Pilchuck, Montesano, Monroe, Moses Lake, Mt. Si, Nathan Hale, North Central, North Kitsap, NW Christian, O’Dea, Olympic, Orting, Othello, Peninsula, Prairie, RA Long, Reardan, South Kitsap, Southridge, Spanaway Lake, Stanwood, Sultan, Tahoma, Tonasket, Toppenish, Union, White River and Yelm.
