RALEIGH, N.C. — Tuesday's rainy conditions will continue into the evening and through the night in many central North Carolina communities, WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.

While wind gusts and rain showers have died down in the Triangle, another wave of showers will arrive in the evening, but severe weather is not likely.

"They will be hit or miss, so it's not going to rain the whole evening," Wilmoth said.

7-Day Forecast

Wilmoth said the areas that will see the most rain will be southern parts of the state as well as areas east of Raleigh, such as Rocky Mount and Wilson.

"Rain will also continue to fall in Hoke County," Wilmoth said. "We see rain in and around the Raeford area and in northern parts of Cumberland County,”

Rain is possible for most of the evening, and thunderstorms are possible until around 8 p.m., especially south of the Triangle.

Temperatures will remain mild in the 50s and 60s during the evening and overnight.

Wednesday brings a chance for showers again as the system moves out of the area.

"Tomorrow, we do have a lot of dry time, but we do have some hit-or-miss showers throughout the day," Wilmoth said.

Thursday morning is dry, but another evening system will likely bring another set of showers into the area.

Wilmoth said the soggy pattern will continue through the week, with a bright and sunny weekend in the forecast.
