A champion fell runner who has represented England has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed at an athletics stadium.

Lauren Jeska, of Machynlleth, in Powys, is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today.

The 41-year-old will also face a further two charges of wounding and possession of a bladed article.

The 51 year-old victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Jeska was listed as a member of the West Yorkshire-based Todmorden Harriers the athletics club’s website, reports the Mail.

It said she was the women’s 2010, 2011 and 2012 English Fell Running Champion and won the British Championship in 2012.

Jeska was also pictured in an England athletics vest on her Facebook page.
