Wayfair: New shopping holiday 'Way Day' coming April 25

Shelby Fleig

Online furniture retailer Wayfair is the latest company to declare its own shopping holiday, which the company says will bring its lowest prices since Black Friday.

“Way Day” is scheduled for April 25 and will include worthy online sales on more than 70,000 products. It follows another recently invented retail holiday Amazon's “Prime Day.”

Wayfair is advertising Way Day with promises of free shipping and new deals every six hours. The e-commerce shop sells millions of products including outdoor and indoor furniture, home decor, lighting fixtures and appliances in a range of styles from modern to rustic to coastal.

“Spring is the season when our customers are especially focused on sprucing up and furnishing outdoor spaces in anticipation of warm weather and summer entertaining,” said Wayfair’s chief merchandising officer Steve Oblak in a statement.

The company announced discounts will start midnight April 25. Extra savings will come to Wayfair credit card holders, who will earn triple rewards on Way Day buys.

The company said it plans to continue the holiday annually going forward.

E-commerce sites including Wayfair made headlines in recent weeks as a current U.S. Supreme Court case will decide whether online vendors will have to start charging state sales taxes on products bought on the web, as brick-and-mortar stores are required to do.
