Oregon, Illinois man dies after accident in Lee County

One man is dead after a car accident in rural Dixon, Illinois. The Lee County Sheriff's Department was called to a two-vehicle accident on IL. 2 at Sink Hollow Road in rural Dixon, Illinois.

Officials say a truck driven by 68-year-old Stephen Vagle, of Oregon, Illinois, was northbound when another truck driven by 60-year-old Daniel Blum of Dixon, Illinois was southbound. Officials say the truck driven by Blum crossed the center line, hitting the other truck head-on.

Vagle was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Vagle's passenger was taken to the hospital as well and treated with non-life threatening injuries.

Blum was flown to OSF Saint Francis in Rockford with serious injuries.

The Lee County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Dixon Rural Fire Department, Dixon City Police, Advance Ambulance, Illinois State Police, Dixon City Fire Department and LifeFlight.
